Reverb10: Day 2
December 2 Writing.
What do you do each day that doesn’t contribute to your writing — and can you eliminate it?
(Author: Leo Babauta)
Well, since I am not a writer, I find this prompt a bit annoying. I don’t write. What I do is blurt. I blurt things in real life; I blurt things in text messages; I blurt things when I talk online; I blurt things on Twitter. Someone would probably eloquently say that this is writing, and I thank them for that; but I’m also at a loss on how to even ANSWER a question so limiting as this.
In design (which is supposedly what I do), EVERYTHING I do, even just watching TV or something, contributes to my work. When you are dealing with something so integrated in our lives - like making websites, etc - shouldn’t you be keeping yourself informed on everything? Which turns this question into a simple answer of, well, I guess using the toilet doesn’t “contribute” to what I do. Neither does cleaning my cat’s litter (although, think about how perfectly designed a poop-scoop is). And I can’t not do these things.
So question-asker - I think your question sucks. Boom. Roasted.
